Why do I lead? #SAVMP

"Remember the difference between a boss and a leader: a boss says, "Go!" - a leader says, "Let's go!"  ~E.M. Kelly

I lead with the belief that the individuals that work in the field of education with me have amazing skills, knowledge and attributes that are essential to our students' success.  My part as a leader is to provide the structure for a unified and concerted effort, maximizing individual efforts and creativity which ideally will snowball into a beautiful dais of learning for young people.  As a leader, I wish to create a safe environment for teachers to reflect on their practices and to take risks in trying new strategies that may engage their students in meaningful and novel ways.  I support their collaboration, our collaboration, as we seek to use our collective knowledge to expand our capacity.

I lead in the humble awareness that I am not smarter, better, or more skilled than others, but that I have a passion for what we as a group can do for our students when we work collaboratively together towards a common goal.  To that end, I feel the responsibility to study, to talk with my colleagues, to observe, to learn and to share.

I lead in the hope and commitment of bringing our best thinking and actions to the fore, resulting in learning for all students.  This is why I lead.
